The first year I used the United States Through Industrialism program went smoothly.  After each lesson I would reflect on what went well and what I would like to change the next year.  One of the areas that I identified needed boosting was the delegate information for the Constitutional Convention.

I used http://www.teachingamericanhistory.org/convention/delegates/  which had information on all of the delegates that attended the convention.  I printed out the background information and put the pages in plastic sleeves.  When it is time to hand out their delegate materials, I include the extra background information, the mask, and the TCI student handout in the plastic sleeve.  I have used the extra delegate background information for several years now.  My students feel more comfortable presenting these personas now.

What do you do to dig deeper with TCI?

One of the thiings that I have done is look for "minority" particpation in history and beef up my instruction. I have primarily taught world history.   The Women's History Proejct is a good source for beefing up women's history.  Overall TCI does a pretty good job of including the excluded.    Another thing I do for world history is emphasize the connections to my diverse student body.  Since I have many asian students with roots in China (The Hmong, Mien, and Lao) I researched their history and included some of their contributions in the chapter on Chinese achievements.  Food for thought....
