Unit 2: Ancient Egypt and the Near East
Pretend that you have been hired as part of a team to film a television documentary on the geography of ancient Egypt and the Near East. The documentary should clearly address this question: How did geography affect daily life? Choose to focus on one of these three ancient civilizations: Egypt, Kush, or Canaan. You are responsible for writing the script for the documentary. Your script must include these elements:

A. An imaginative title that catches the interest of your viewers.
B. A five-paragraph narration describing how geography affected daily life in your chosen civilization. Your narration must include
  an introduction that gets the interest of your viewers, provides helpful background detail, and states your purpose for writing.
  three body paragraphs that describe ways in which geography affected daily life in your civilization. Descriptions of both geography and daily life should be used to support your ideas.
  a conclusion that repeats your purpose and reminds your viewers of your main points.
C. Visuals of at least three pictures you would like included in the documentary, with a two- to three-sentence caption describing each scene and what it reveals about the effect geography had on daily life in your civilization.
D. A rough draft.
E. A typed, final draft with proper grammar, spelling, and credits (a bibliography of your sources) for information provided in the script.
